Celebratory Poster and Banners Created to Honor 125 Years
Mayor Christopher Getty commissioned a limited edition poster in honor of the village’s 125th year as a municipal government. Featuring the Hofmann Tower in its design, 1,000 copies of the poster were produced and the first 100 were signed personally by Mayor Getty.
At a senior meeting January 17,th Mayor Getty expressed his excitement about the milestone as he handed out the posters to those in attendance.
“I am proud of this Village and it brings me great joy to be able to honor Lyons and those that who have been a part of its making, both past and present,” said Mayor Getty.
Mayor Getty also implemented a decorative banner program featuring the same design as the poster with the addition of space for businesses to advertise.
These banners will be hung on light poles along Ogden, Harlem, Lawndale and Joliet Avenues.
The decorative banners will come at no cost to Lyons.
"We have many events planned this year and we plan to incorporate the 125 year theme with all of our events." said Mayor Getty.
The first planned event will be the State of the Village on Wednesday, March 20th. Mayor Getty will lead in a ceremony and give his annual State of the Village Speech followed by a reception at the Lyons Village Hall.
Residents can receive a free poster at the Village Hall.
