Mayor Getty Welcomes New Thai Restaurant to Lyons

Mayor Getty Welcomes New Thai Restaurant to Lyons

Mayor Christopher Getty welcomed a new Thai restaurant to Lyons last week called D. Thai. Located at 7221 Ogden Avenue, D. Thai is a family-owned and operated eatery providing traditional Thai food ranging from spicy curry to mango sticky rice.

D. Thai owners Suchart and Ura Surin, along with their daughters Pinya and Myra, previously owned and operated Fine Thai on Ogden Avenue in Brookfield,  but decided to open a larger location in Lyons in order to expand their operation.

Soon after opening D. Thai, they sold Fine Thai to relatives.

Since opening this past summer, D. Thai has seen many of their regular customers follow them to Lyons and plenty of new faces from Lyons and the surrounding area.

Ura Surin, the mother and master cook of D. Thai, has been working in Thai kitchens for over twenty years and has passed on the love of the restaurant business to her children.

The Surin family is from the local area and their daughters are Morton West High School Alum.
Mayor Getty visited the newly opened restaurant last week and the Surin family happily welcomed him by bringing out many of their specialty dishes and traditional Thai food.

“The food is phenomenal and I am happy to welcome another great family restaurant to town,” said Mayor Getty.

“We are honored that they choose Lyons for their new expanded location.”

D. Thai is located at 7221 Ogden Avenue restaurant, just west of Harlem Avenue.  Customers can dine in, carry out or order for delivery.
