Lyons Prepares for Upcoming State of the Village
Lyons Mayor Christopher Getty will be hosting his annual State of the Village on Wednesday March 20th at the Lyons Village Hall.
More than 300 people are expected to attend the event, including Lyons residents, business owners and various elected officials.
Mayor Getty plans to provide attendees with an overview of accomplishments carried out by the village over the past year, along with the unveiling of future planned improvements.
“As Mayor I feel it is a priority to communicate first hand with residents and local business owners,” said Mayor Getty.
Mayor Getty initiated the very first State of the Village in 2010 after his first year in office.
Nowhere in the in the village code does it mandate an address from the Mayor, however, the Mayor feels it is his duty as the elected leader of Lyons, said Mayor Getty.
Mayor Getty has received an enormous amount support and commendation from the village for his open communication and interaction with constituents.
“The village has witnessed a sense of togetherness these past few years,” said Lyons Village Clerk Dawn Campos. “It is because of this cohesiveness that we as a village have been able to make improvements and better Lyons.”
Campos said she was looking forward to future improvements Mayor Getty and the village board has planned.
The State of the Village will begin at 7:00 P.M. with refreshments, hors d'oeuvres and musical entertainment to follow.
The Lyons Village Hall is located at 4200 Lawndale Avenue. All Lyons residents and business owners are welcome to attend.
