New business opens in Lyons
BuckleDown Brewery, a small craft brewery and taproom, became the most recent new business to open its doors in the Village of Lyons.
The Village of Lyons continues to attract new businesses the community as a part of Mayor Getty’s policies to build the village’s retail and sales tax base to ease the burden on homeowners.
Long-time friends and brewers Ike Orcutt and Shaun Mahoney founded the brewery based off of their philosophy that with hard work, creativity and determination, great beer can be crafted.
Located at 8700 W. 47th Street, previously Jessup’s Automotive, Orcutt and Mahoney transformed the former auto garage into a quaint, yet impressive, brewery and taproom serving up flavorful beers such as IPA’s, Porters and Belgium-style Singels to the public four days a week.
Mayor Getty attended the brewery’s grand opening on Friday (Dec. 6) and toured their facility.
“BuckleDown Brewery will make a fantastic addition to Lyons and our growing business community,” said Mayor Getty. “This Brewery along with the other various businesses that have recently opened add character to our town, while bringing in revenue.”
We have seen a rise in businesses opening on 47th street said Mayor Getty.
Eggbeaters café and Hall of Fame Sports Bar opened in Lyons this past fall, both of which are located on the corner of 47th and Lawndale.
Getty also noted that a Family Dollar is set to open at Ogden and First Avenue this winter and Dotty’s, a country-style gaming café, in the Spring of 2014
